Preschool to Year 10

Message from the Principal

Shane Gorman - Principal

Driving success, ambition and excellence in education

Since arriving at Wanniassa School at the beginning of Term 2 2015, I have been very impressed with:

  • The quality and variety of educational offerings available to students
  • The leadership opportunities available to students
  • The friendliness of the students as a result of this very caring environment
  • The dedication of all staff working at Wanniassa School

It is with great pleasure that I take up the role of Principal of Wanniassa School. I look forward to leading the school community to further enhance the great work which the committed school community have invested into the school.  After meeting with the Student Representative Council I realise that the qualities of this school that I appreciate are the same as those of the students.  Their comments include; 'A great sense of community', 'People bond here, no-one is mean', 'Everyone knows each other and people are kind', 'Teachers push you here and make sure you get along', 'You always know you can get help from teachers', 'There are huge opportunities - a little school with big things inside', ' Heaps of sports'.

We have high expectations of all of our students to be ambitious learners. Students are supported to achieve the next step regardless of academic ability. Through rigorous programs, gifted and talented students are extended so that students can begin college and tertiary level work while at Wanniassa School.

Wanniassa School is a school with a diverse, vibrant, energetic and caring community. Qualified, dedicated teachers work collaboratively with students to develop future-focused, personalised pathways. I am committed to personalised learning where every student is engaged in their work that is directly connected to the real world, their aspirations and future. All students will see themselves as lifelong learners when they experience success. Students are supported to achieve their pathway goals through a wide range of educational, vocational, sporting, cultural and leadership opportunities. We develop successful life-long learners with leadership and citizenship skills that see them flourish at school and beyond. Their future is in safe hands.
