Between Home and School

The behaviour of students travelling to and from school creates an impression within the community. Students and families benefit from the school having a good reputation. The school can hold students accountable for poor behaviour to and from school.

Bicycles and Scooters

The school provides a bike compound, which is locked during school hours.  Students should use the bike compound at all times to secure bikes and scooters.  Please note that the school cannot be responsible for bikes or scooters at school.
Students should not ride bikes or scooters around the school or in the corridors during school hours because of the risk of accidents to themselves or to other people.  All students should wear bike helmets riding to and from school – this is an ACT law.

The Physical Activity Foundation, in conjunction with Wanniassa School, has created a school map highlighting walking and cycling routes to our school. The map also includes other details including underpasses, zebra crossings, bus stops, drop-off points and a number of other important details.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast is provided every Thursday morning before school by volunteers from the community.

Buses

The behaviour of students on school and route buses should be the same as at school.  The school works with ACTION to ensure that all students have pleasant and reasonable conditions during bus journeys to and from school.  ACTION has the right to stop students whose behaviour is unacceptable from using school and route buses, and the school will support ACTION in this matter.
ACTION MyWay cards can be ordered online at http://www.transport.act.gov.au/myway/buy.html or purchased from MyWay recharge agents. If you have a registered card and it is lost or stolen, call 13 17 10 or visit a Canberra Connect Shopfront or a MyWay Centre and your card can be frozen after you provide its number and your password. You should then arrange to purchase a new card, register it and transfer the balance from your old card to your new one.
Bus timetables are available to be viewed at the front office.
